Word Problems

Lately we have been doing word problems in math class. These problems are the hardest ones in the book so far, especially the homework problems which are applications of the examples they have in the book. This might make it even harder to get an A on the third test, especially since the word problems all vary and there are so many different ways to do them. When you do them you have to make graphs and find the feasible region and sometimes it can be hard to find some of the corner points in the feasible regions on the graphs. My teacher told me that the only way to graph these problems without confusion is to use the intercept method, where you find what x is when y is zero and find what y is when x is zero. It is better that way, except sometimes it can be hard to graph mixed numbers.
